How to Get Rid of the Cigarette Smoke Smell in a Car

If you’ve bought a car filled with the smell of cigarettes or are trying to clean one out, the smell can be overwhelming. Especially here in Georgia, with our high temperatures and relative humidity, vehicle odors can be particularly troubling. Here’s how to get rid of cigarette smoke smell in a car.

Home Remedies Don’t Work

It doesn’t take much internet searching to find pages of home remedies claiming to remove cigarette odor such as coffee grounds, oranges, sliced apples, cat litter, charcoal, and vinegar. With strong odors themselves, these items may mask the cigarette smell for a time but do not eliminate the issue. If the car had been owned by a serious smoker, these home remedies simply aren’t up to the task of smoke remediation.

Why Is It So Difficult to Get the Smoke Out?

The reason why it is so difficult to get rid of the smoke odor is that the smoke infuses into all of the porous material in the car. That includes the headliner, seats, visors, seat cushions, and carpet. Even little dust bunnies in your vents could retain the odor. Coffee grinds and other home remedies simply are not powerful enough to penetrate and neutralize the smoke odor.

Professional Smoke Remediation

Here at Georgia Clean, we have a highly effective process of eliminating the smoke odor from a vehicle.

Two Day Process

In order for our cigarette smoke remediation process to be effective, it does require that you to leave your car with us for two days. The vehicle drop off location is in Marietta, Georgia.

The first steps in getting rid of any odor is to get rid of the source. We start by eliminating the easier to find sources of cigarette odor that are visible like cigarette butts and ashes from the ashtray.

The next step is to fog the vehicle with a special odor eliminating product. The fogging process needs to remain in the vehicle overnight. The fog will infiltrate the inside of the vehicle encapsulating and neutralizing the odor. We will then wipe down all the hard surface to remove all of the nicotine residue. After we are done thoroughly cleaning the inside of your vehicle, it will be ready for pick up.
